Two municipalities enter Ekopak’s Green Dot System on the same day: the Municipality of Vitez and the Municipality of Novi Travnik
On Monday, December 15, 2014, a contract was signed to establish a system for primary selection of packaging waste in the Municipality of Vitez, which financed the purchase of infrastructure for the establishment of 10 eco-islands and the purchase of vehicles for separate collection of packaging waste. The contract was signed by the Mayor of the Municipality of Vitez, Advan Akeljić, Director of JKP Vitkom doo Igor Miličević, and Director of Ekopak Amela Hrbat.
On the same day, a contract was signed to establish the Green Dot System in the Municipality of Novi Travnik. Ekopak will finance the purchase of vehicles for selective collection of packaging waste in the Municipality of Novi Travnik, as well as the purchase of containers and bins that will be placed in front of schools. The contract was signed by the Secretary of the Municipality of Novi Travnik Jasmin Hodžić, the Director of the Public Utility Company Vilenica Čistoća Dario Zorić, and the Director of Ekopak Amela Hrbat.
Ekopak will also carry out educational and promotional activities so that citizens, once the infrastructure is delivered, are informed and prepared to properly dispose of packaging waste.
By signing today’s contracts, Ekopak – the first authorized operator of the packaging and packaging waste management system in BiH, has invested significant financial resources and begun the process of establishing an efficient, transparent, long-term and sustainable Green Dot System in 10 municipalities: Bihać, Gračanica, Orašje, Donji Vakuf, Kladanj, Ključ, Olovo, Breza, Vitez and Novi Travnik, and it is planned to gradually include all municipalities.
