Ekopak delivered to the Municipality of Novi Travnik the infrastructure for the establishment of 5 eco-islands, sets of bins for kindergartens and a vehicle for selective collection of packaging waste.
On Thursday, April 16, 2015, the Municipality of Novi Travnik held a ceremonial handover of the infrastructure for the establishment of 5 eco-islands, as well as sets of bins that will be placed in front of kindergartens in this Municipality. In addition to the existing infrastructure, Novi Travnik now has a total of 13 eco-islands. Ekopak also financed the purchase of vehicles for the selective collection of packaging waste so that the entire cycle could be closed and packaging waste could ultimately be recycled.
The handover was attended by the Mayor of Novi Travnik Municipality Refik Lendo, the Director of PUC “Vilenica-čistoća” Tihomir Sučić, and Ekopak’s sales and communications expert Samra Jažić.
The Mayor of the Municipality of Novi Travnik expressed his satisfaction that Ekopak has enabled the citizens of this municipality to receive containers and bins in which they will be able to selectively dispose of packaging waste, but he emphasized that in addition to education, it is necessary to implement appropriate measures so that citizens behave responsibly towards waste that is not garbage but a useful raw material.
In the coming period, Ekopak will carry out educational and promotional activities aimed at spreading positive awareness about the proper disposal of packaging waste. One of the announced activities is a play for schoolchildren “Tvrle Ekolog” which will be held on 27.04.2015 at 13:00 in the Cultural Center in Novi Travnik, and which is being realized in cooperation with the Bosnian National Theater from Zenica.
Ekopak calls on all manufacturers, importers, packers, distributors and traders to regulate their legal obligations for packaging waste through Ekopak, and to enable the establishment of a system in all municipalities of the Federation of BiH based on the best practices of European countries with which Ekopak is connected through PRO EUROPE.
