On April 29, 2015, in front of the PUC “Vitkom” in Vitez, a ceremonial handover of the infrastructure for the establishment of 10 eco-islands was held. Ekopak also financed the purchase of a special vehicle for the separate collection of packaging waste.

The handover was attended by the director of PUC Vitkom, as well as representatives of the Municipality of Vitez and Ekopak. In this way, the Municipality of Vitez joins Ekopak’s Green Dot System and begins the project of primary selection of packaging waste from municipal solid waste. The project also plans various promotional and educational activities with the aim of raising awareness among the local population about the proper disposal and recycling of packaging waste. 

The Municipality of Vitez is one of 12 municipalities in which Ekopak is successfully establishing the Green Dot System, and the municipalities that are already involved are: Bihać, Gračanica, Orašje, Donji Vakuf, Kladanj, Ključ, Olovo, Breza, Novi Travnik and Vogošća. The Green Dot System that Ekopak is building in BiH is transparent, sustainable and long-term, modeled after the most efficient systems established in other PRO EUROPE member countries.
