Ekopak, the Municipality of Kiseljak and PE “Water Supply and Sewerage” signed an agreement on the establishment and development of the Green Dot System.

Mladen Mišurić Ramljak, Mayor of Kiseljak Municipality, Mladen Medić, Director of JP “Vodovod i Kanalizacija” and Amela Hrbat, Director of Ekopak, signed today in Kiseljak a contract on the establishment and development of the Green Dot System – for the selective disposal of packaging waste and its preparation for recycling in Kiseljak Municipality.

By signing this contract, Kiseljak will join the municipalities that have already begun the process of establishing an efficient, transparent, long-term and sustainable system for packaging and packaging waste management in BiH, modeled on European models, with the help of Ekopak. The contract envisages the procurement of vehicles for transporting collected packaging waste, and the establishment of 5 eco-islands, which, together with the existing eco-islands, will “cover” more than half of the municipality’s population.

“The municipality of Kiseljak is the 14th municipality in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina to join Ekopak. I commend the municipality, which has already started separate waste disposal without Ekopak, and I believe that our cooperation will further improve the development of the system,” said Amela Hrbat, director of Ekopak.

“I am extremely happy that we are one of the 14 municipalities that entered the Ekopak system, even though we started with disposal and collection of waste, with today’s contract we will greatly relieve the waste in the area of ​​the municipality and start recycling it,” said Mayor Mladen Mišurić – Ramljak. 

Director of JP “Vodovod i kanalizacija” Mladen Medić emphasized the importance of signing the contract with Ekopak. “Ultimately, the goal is to cover Kiseljak with green islands. The coverage so far is 45%, we still have rural areas of the municipality left,” said Medić.

In addition to investing in adequate municipal infrastructure necessary for the selective disposal of packaging waste in this municipality, Ekopak will also implement educational activities in the coming period with the intention of introducing the citizens of the Kiseljak municipality to the proper disposal of packaging waste.
