Based on the previously signed agreement on cooperation and implementation of the project “Development of primary selection of packaging waste from municipal solid waste in the Municipality of Kakanj”, the handover of sets of bins for the establishment of eco-islands through which packaging waste will be collected was carried out.
18 containers were delivered for the establishment of six eco-islands, 18 sets of bins for three secondary and six central primary schools, and the purchase of 38 bins for nineteen branch schools. The bins were delivered to JP Vodokom, which, together with the Municipality of Kakanj, signed a contract with Ekopak and joined the Green Dot System for the recovery and recycling of packaging waste. The Municipality of Kakanj has determined the locations where the eco-islands will be set up, and JP Vodokom will carry out construction preparatory work, regularly empty the packaging waste collected from the eco-islands, and prepare for transport and recycling. Given that the project covers all schools, Ekopak will carry out educational and promotional activities aimed at raising awareness among students about the importance of proper disposal and recycling of packaging waste.
