Ekopak Membership in PRO Europe
Almost every European country has an authorized company that is the exclusive licensee of the internationally registered Green Dot trademark. This company is authorized to grant the right to use the Green Dot symbol and is responsible for establishing and developing packaging waste collection and recycling systems based on the principle of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), on behalf of producers, importers, distributors, and retailers who place packaging or packaged products on the market, as well as for regulating the use of the Green Dot trademark.
After meeting the high standards set by the European umbrella organization PRO Europe, headquartered in Brussels, Ekopak was admitted to the organization in December 2013, as verified by the signing of the Ekopak – PRO Europe agreement. This made Ekopak the 32nd member and Bosnia and Herzegovina the 32nd country in this extensive system. Ekopak thus became the exclusive licensee of the Green Dot trademark for the market of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
As a member of PRO Europe and the representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina in this prestigious organization, Ekopak is committed to implementing EU best practices in system development through:
1) Establishing and developing systems for separate collection of packaging waste at the source and conducting educational projects, and
2) Providing expert support to clients in the field of packaging waste management.
