What is Green Dot

The Green Dot is a financial symbol that represents extended producer responsibility. When displayed on packaging, the Green Dot indicates that a financial contribution has been paid to a company managing packaging and packaging waste, enabling the producer to take part in building and developing the recycling system.

Green Dot History

The Green Dot system for managing packaging waste was introduced in Germany in the 1980s. It quickly became popular among consumers and soon spread across much of Europe and beyond. Today, the Green Dot symbol is the most widely used internationally protected symbol in the world, protected in more than 170 countries.
